That I might travel in Foreign Countries

Well it's been A LONG time since I've posted to my 'blog. Since my last post I have changed my employment, changed my personal lifestyle, and changed my lodge focus. I'll post more about all of these later for now I have this to say:

"You can't enslave a free man, the worst you can do is kill him"

I'm now working for myself. I have decided that if my destiny is going to be uncertain then I'd like to take the helm & steer my ship into the unknown under my own power. Things are going good so far and I hope that the Grand Architect will give me the wisdom, strength, and stamina to seek a fair deal, close it and follow through with that deal.

Well I'm post more as I have time and P.S. grove Lodge #824 is working on reinventing their website.. more on that soon!

Family...

My desk calendar today says:

"Families are about love overcoming emotional torture" - Matt Groening

I can relate to that. The trouble is that the machinery that allows people to interact with each other is imperfect at best. This is complicated by the fact that the people who are closest to you & know you inside & out are the most likely to throw sand into that machine. If it weren't for love acting as a lubricant I doubt there would be many families. If you add the general sense of insecurity most people feel about themselves it's truly a wonder that people are able to build close-ness & a sense of family at all!

It's hunting Season again...

Well no-one would argue that we're into the hunting season once again. I have quite a few good memories which have everything to do with hunting with my father both for deer & small game with all manner of hunting apparatus. I always wondered how the heck you got the shotgun shot out of your take for the day... Apparently here's the better answer. LEAVE IT IN. Check out the link.

Ms. Dewey

This is a kind of interesting search engine. I'm kind of bummed that it's really show on my computer & a little choppy. Maybe you will have better luck!

George signs detainee law

Damn-it, I'm all for interrogating suspects especially those suspected of terrorism. I'm all for using using strong means to get them to talk (not blatant torture, mutilation, etc). I'm all for trying them in courts military or otherwise. What I don't like is the suspension of Habeas Corpus. What happens when one of us poor schlubs who's name is common enough to be on the no-fly lists irks one of our Homeland Security types and causes them to suspect that person of being a terrorist? It looks like under this law we'd have no more appeal to the courts. Maybe I'm being paranoid but I keep seeing our rights going quietly into the sunset. Is it just me or does anyone else notice it?

A new novel with masonic ref's

Well here goes my first post about mason's and books... I just got finished reading Brad Meltzer's "The Book of Fate" published this year. It's a pretty good political thriller and what dya know? The mason's make an appearance as a device used by the bad guys to get a mentally unstable guy do their bidding. The book brings out all the usual old Freemason's are running the world, a whole list of famous Freemasons, and the possibility that there are masonic symbols in the layout of Washington DC. What I liked was the info was pretty accurate and was used well in the book to add drama. Overall I though it was a good read. Also, for all the brother's out there if you read it please don't skip the author's notes at the end. That was my favorite part! Also, Brad has a section with a few interesting things on it relating to the fraternity so go check it out!

Logical Fallacies

This is a wonderful site on Logical Fallacies. They are wonderfully illustrated.

Here's my try at it:

I've found after extensive study that either you like this list of fallacies or you're ugly, non-intelligent, and smell funny.

Anyhow check out the site

In the words of the Illustrious Tim Allen "A more power man cake".

I say woman have been hogging the whole wedding thing for too long and it's time we men step up and are counted. After all we're getting married too.

I would advise all the guys to have or make this. I'm having one when I take th plunge..
